This sort of sexual harassment within the lesbian community towards more masculine presenting persons is actually dead-on. While I don’t identify as totally as “butch” the way that the author of this article does- I have often felt violated by women who assumed that I was automatically inclined to want them to touch me inappropriately or to be the subject of their lewd comments because of my more “masculine” traits (I wear men’s clothing and cologne because I prefer them, not because I want to be a man). For a while, it created a sort of crisis that I was able to work out in a safe context. But from time to time, I do feel victimized in familiar ways.
